Find Streamers Corner on Alexa and get these in your flash briefings

For a long time viewers who’ve wanted to do a direct donation to their favorite streamers have gone to thrid-party apps like Streamlabs or Streamelements. Monday Amazon’s live streaming platform Twitch launched gift cards!

While gift cards do act differently than a straight donation it does look like this is yet another attempt by Twitch to keep the money in the family.

Here’s how Twitch Gifts Work

Gift cards can be purchased at twitch.launchgiftcards.com and can be purchased in amounts of can be purchased in $25, $50, $100, and $200

These gift cards can be used to purchase Bits, gift subscriptions to your favorite communities or community members, subscriptions for yourself.

With this model, the money stays on twitch, so it’s not the same as a PayPal donation.

Gift Card codes can be redeemed here https://twitch.tv/redeem

How to Give Someone a Gift Card

It seems like Gift Cards are NOT so much for viewers to reward streamers with as you’ll need the recipient’s email address or phone number. They’ll receive your gift, and you’ll receive a confirmation email once they’ve opened the gift card.

So it sounds a lot more like it’s intended to be used by friends and family of viewers and streamers alike who don’t know what else to get their “little gamer”

It would be interesting to see if they open this up in the future to being able to simply use someone’s username, or even more click on their name in chat and have the option to reward them right there.

What countries support Twitch Gift Cards?

Right now they’re limited to the United States only, but Twitch does say they’re

looking to offer them in other countries soon, so check back here for the latest.”

The gift cards themselves never expire “as long as your account is active”, so that’s cool provided you don’t do anything to get yourself banned.
