Old-Timey Prisoner Uniforms are BACK!!
Hell. Yes. As a fan of silent comedies and 80s cartoons, I have long had an affinity for the black and white prisoner uniform. And Saginaw County in Michigan is bringing them back. With the recent popularity of Netflix series Orange is the New Black, the modern orange uniforms have become quite the fashion statement even for regular citizens on the outside. According to Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel, some of the inmates perform community service in public and it’s possible that some teenage jackass wearing an orange jumpsuit could be mistaken for a prisoner if he got too close. This sort of thing could lead to other problems, such as having to check the teenager’s ID.
Regardless of the reason, I am all for these new uniforms. I also support ball and chains attached to the prisoners’s legs. Obviously, this serves no real purpose, but neither does a life of crime. And I think that’s the real lesson here.
It’s also interesting to note that Sheriff Federspiel revealed that prisoner uniforms last two to three years and cost $11.73 a piece. Now that is a steal. Because check this out:
$26.99. Now that’s highway robbery, if anything is. And this is with ball and chain not included!!
