Russian Lawmaker Moves for Apollos Penis to be Removed from Banknote
A member of the Russian government has had enough of the pornographic money that his country keeps printing. I mean, just look at this filth. Yes, it’s one of Russia’s main cultural symbols, but Roman Khudyakov says it’s corrupting the minds of Russian youth. I know it’s really hard to see. No offense, Russia. Here’s a closer look, if you insist: See, it’s clearly a wiener and this sort of thing does not belong on currency. Mr. (Comrade?) Khudyakov told reporters that the idea came to him when he observed two Russian youths commenting on the banknote and the visible penis. No reason was given as to why Khudyakov was watching these children even though that is obviously the more troubling issue.
But this sort of censorship is not entirely out of the realm of possibility, especially with President Vladimir Putin’s growing conservatism. It was only in 2011 that The Bolshoi made news by covering the genitalia on a large Apollo statue with a fig leaf. You gotta admit though, he is kinda just flaunting it:
So who knows what the Russian government will decide to do. Surely if this situation doesn’t get handled, we could start seeing more nudity on more currency. And I do not need to see Benjamin Franklin’s penis. Who knows where that thing’s been?
